The mango arrived in Brazil in the 16th century, brought by Portuguese hands, which introduced it first to Pernambuco's captaincy, and from there to the rest of the country.

From Brazil , the mango was disseminated through the continent. In the USA , the fruit received some genetically improvement, gaining more varieties and improving characteristics such as size, aroma, smell and flavor.
