History
It can be found practically in every tropical area in the world. Guava is a fruit derived from the tropical America, particularly the regions of the Antilles and Brazil.
The European colonizers brought it to Africa and Asia, which explains its occurrence on all continents.
Curiosities
In its composition we find licopen, substance responsible for the intense red color in guavas and other fruit.
Licopen is a powerful anti-oxidizer, found to be very efficient against degenerative disease, like cancer.
